"The Last Mountain" (U.S.A. 2011, 95 min), a documentary film by Bill Haney, focuses on Coal River Valley, West Virginia, where a small but passionate group of ordinary citizens are trying to stop the devastating practice of Mountaintop Removal mining. The film examines the politics, economics, and ecology of the method of coal extraction sometimes called Radical Strip Mining. The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January, and is scheduled to be released on DVD in November 2011. Discussion to follow
