Event Description

ETSU has established an endowment fund, "The Lamberts Native Plant Conservation Endowment". The fund will support the maintenance, care, and use of her home and her yard as a field-resource site to include class instruction, seminars, workshops, events, and research. Frances will train faculty and students on the upkeep of the garden to ensure the preservation of the incredible collection she has created.

The "Lamberts Center for Native Plant Conservation"

"For 45 years, Dr. Frances Lamberts, has cultivated a native plant
garden in the backyard of her home, which boasts one of the
largest collections in the region. With over 60 specimens of
trees, over 30 different types of shrubs, more than 100 different
varieties of wildflowers, and over 20 ferns, grasses and vines, the
organic garden serves as a soil-based habitat for insects and
other animals, which provide the pollination services to keep the
plant world functioning and productive."

We can make a tax-deductible gift to this initiative by mailing a check to:

This event and post is a departure from normal GINI actions. The Board of Directors voted to appeal to the wider community in recognition of Frances's outstanding leadership and vocal presence for environmental stewardship in Upper East TN and the region as a whole.
