Event Description

This year's Winter Solstice occurs about once every 23,000 years.  (Earth will be lined up with Sun, which will be lined up with the center of Our Galaxy.)  I think it's amazing that the Mayans knew this!

Solstice occurs at 6:12 am (EST) the morning of Dec 21st. So if you happen to be awake at 5:15 am (CST) or 3:12 (PST) am on the 21st, and the sky is clear, go out and look into the heart of our Galaxy or, if you can, listen to the song of the spheres.
