TN Interfaith Power and Light (TIPL) announces its second quarterly teleconference seminar series with a presentation on The Calling of Climate Change - a Spiritual Response to Climate Change, with Rev. Jim Deming, 7pm CT / 8 pm ET Tuesday, April 23, lasting one hour. TIPL teleconference seminars are opportunities for leaders in the Tennessee faith community to directly engage with each other on climate change. Lay leaders are also encouraged to join members of the clergy or the faith group leadership on this teleconference. Pre-registration is required (see below).
Rev. Jim Deming is the Minister for Environmental Justice for the United Church of Christ at the national level. He earlier worked as staff to the TN Interfaith Power and Light and currently serves on the board of Appalachian Voices. Jim resides in Nashville, TN with his wife Lynne who is the World Editor of The Upper Room.The discussion will focus on how climate change calls the faith community to move beyond “greening” to a spiritual response to the underlying causes of climate change and to the suffering it inflicts on the most vulnerable.
Rev. Deming’s 30-minute presentation will be followed by an opportunity for questions and comments.
