Rev. Canon Sally Bingham sent the following message today:

"Yesterday, as I heard the president speak eloquently about the threat that climate change poses to our children and our call from God to preserve the planet, I was encouraged. Now we need to act by making this year's national Preach-In on climate change the biggest one yet! Whether you are clergy, a lay leader, green team member, or a parishioner, please join with me and thousands of others to let the president know that we hear him -- and we, too, want action on climate.

Our Preach-in kit includes sample sermons, "Love Creation" valentines (postcards) to the president, and an optional 53-minute film called "The Hungry Tide" about the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities. There are many ways to participate.

Register this week to ensure that your congregation gets its materials in time. Let's hold President Obama to his strong promise to protect our climate. As he said, to fail to do so would be "to betray our children and future generations."

There is no cost to register, and you can choose to either download a free, instant online kit or receive materials through the mail. But please act today, before time runs out."
