On Sunday, March 13, at 3:00 pm, at the Summit Leadership Foundation, 3104 Hanover Rd, Johnson City, TN 37604 will be the location of GINI's next event, "The Return of the Electric Car." David Hrivnak will be the presenter.
Return of the electric car. Electric cars are back with more than 24 models to choose from in 2016. They are supported by more than 11,000 public charging stations, most of which are free for use. Come to learn why plug-ins are growing so much faster than hybrids and the general car market. Learn why EV are so muc more fun to drive, how EV's are cost competitive now and why they are so much better for the environment. The discussion will conclude with a review of the top selling EV's.
David Hrivnak has been actively finding ways to reduce his carbon footprint over the years. His projects has included: Designing and building two passive solar homes, built an all-electric Jeep & Miata, modified his Prius and Avalanche into plug-in electrics, and finally added solar PV to his home. He offsets over 90% of the electricity used for the home and both plug-in cars. Dave has driven his all electric car across Tennessee several times to the Electric Vehicle Conversion Conference, showing long distance electric travel is possible. Dave is active in the community as a Boy Scout leader, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and a mentor with the Dobbyn’s Bennet First Robotics program. With his church he is leading the energy task force as a way to reduce energy costs.
