Event Description

United Religious Initiative (URI) is screening Talking Through Walls: The Quest to Build a Mosque in Vorhees, New Jersey at the JC Library from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sept. 23rd.  The event is open to the public with opportunity for discussion following. Donations will be appreciated to defray costs. Also, there will be a brief meeting, 5:00-5:45, for planning the URI Gratitude Dinner, November 17, that all are invited to attend.

Talking Through Walls, a Unity Productions Foundation-produced documentary, tells the inspiring story of Zia and the interfaith coalition that overcame the resistance of fearful Voorhees residents to finally build the mosque. It is a story that pits tolerance and intolerance in an uncertain world.

"Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth. Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust. Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace. Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe...."
[a Prayer for Peace recited at noon around the world August-September 2012 in recognition of the upcoming UN World Peace Day on September 21.]
