If consumerism is bad for us and bad for the planet, then what sorts of consumption are good, virtuous, and consistent with Christian teaching? Laura M. Hartman will share her insights from the Christian tradition to elucidate helpful perspectives on ethical consumption at our February meeting.
We invite you to come early to socialize before the meeting. Please plan to arrive by 3:45 to enjoy some refreshments for mind and body, so that we can begin our membership meeting promptly at 4:00.
Our speaker will be Laura Hartman, assistant professor of religion at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. She received her B.A. from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, and her PhD. from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Her book, The Christian Consumer: Living Faithfully in a Fragile World was published by Oxford University Press in 2011.
