Community Gardens Collaborative: Building Teams and Visions for a Healthier Appalachia
You’re invited to a community gardening/family and residential health meeting at Northeast State Community College on November 18th at 10AM! Our goal is to provide an opportunity for individuals committed to residential redevelopment, gardening and nutrition in schools to come together and discuss strategies to develop collaborative approaches to achieve common goals.
At this meeting, we will feature David Cooke of Grow Appalachia and Samantha Benjamin-Kirk of the USDA’s Farm-to-School Grant initiative to inform attendees of how the grant process for collaborators works. David Cooke will reveal what community gardening projects and grant requests get Grow Appalachia excited and what potential pitfalls may occur, while Samantha will reveal the same in terms of bringing healthier foods to school lunches. We’ll also provide a healthy, fresh lunch for all attendees.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP at jbhoneycutt@northeaststate.edu and fill out a short questionnaire (link below) to make our meeting more successful. We hope to see you there!
