Event Description

We invite all area residents who understand the seriousness of climate change to join us for our first climate vigil in the TriCities region, to be held at ETSU at dusk on Nov. 14. We'll be there for about an hour just after the sun sets. We'll have LED candles and will be renewed as we gather with others who know we need to act more conscientiously toward the Earth.

We will offer a few brief prayers and readings, and then we'll introduce the Earth Choir songbook, being developed by TN Interfaith Power & Light (TN-IPL). Please bring your instrument, if you're musical and can accompany our voices. Contact Carol for more information about the songs, or the event in general:  tricitieshealthyenergy@gmail.com

I'd like to thank all who came to the vigil, especially ETSU's ECO group and their advisor, Dr. Kevin O'Donnell, Rev. Dr. Tim Ross from Hopwood, Dr. Mohammed Alzoubi, President of the Muslim Community of North East Tennessee, Steve Church, and the GINI folk who were able to be there, as well. We met a few new people, and it almost felt like we should've had a campfire or something. It was nice to just linger a bit and have a good conversation about what we can do together. We're already thinking about the next climate vigil...maybe a nice evening after the new year begins.
