Event Description

Green Interfaith Network, Inc., joins with the TN Poor People's Campaign for Moral Revival in supporting an evening event to remember and reflect upon the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  We invite you to join us at First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton, 119 West F St., where a short, outdoor and socially-distanced program will be offered beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Or you might choose to attend at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 603 Sunset Dr. in Johnson City. Plan to arrive a little before 7:00 to hear the introduction and be present when the bells begin to toll.

Bells will also be heard in Jonesborough from Jonesborough Presbyterian Church.

First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton will also live-stream their program at: bit.ly/3mgKzDd or  www.youtube.com/c/FirstPresbyterianChurchElizabethton

Bell-tolling will begin promptly at 7:01 p.m. EDT and bells will toll 39 times, in honor of each of the years Dr. King lived. By scheduling the event in this way, bells will simultaneously begin to peal across the state at the time of his assassination on April 4th, 1968.

The call and response of the Poor Peoples Campaign for Moral Revival, "Forward Together, Not One Step back!" will end the program.
