Event Description

A public hearing will be held to expose the dangers of nuclear weapons work at Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin, beginning at 2 p.m. in the Jones Room at 100 W. Millard St., Johnson City TN. Refreshments will be provided.
Expert witnesses will describe:
• The contamination already caused by NFS;
• The destruction caused to communities and to nature by nuclear weapons production;
• The dangers of the nuclear arms race that our government continues; and
• The danger to democracy when the NRC and the Department of Energy can totally ignore the concerns of American citizens.
Neighbors of NFS, the people who are most in danger from this new nuclear weapons project, are also invited to speak.
The last hour, from 5-6 p.m. will be a "social hour" for attendees to mingle and to take action by signing petitions and/or writing postcards to decision-makers about NFS's proposed changes.
