Received a request from LEAF:

Dear Friends of LEAF:

For the past five years, those of us who work with LEAF have been privileged to witness the astonishing growth in the number of Christians across Tennessee who've opened their hearts to the Biblical call to care for God's creation.  We have worshiped with them, provided free creation care materials for them, and been humbled by their hunger to hear the scriptural basis for earth stewardship.  Over and over we've heard comments like: "We never talked about earth stewardship at church, so I thought I was the only one in my congregation that cared about it. What a relief to realize I'm not alone."

LEAF wants Christians across the state to know they certainly aren't alone, and in that spirit, we're inviting faith leaders/churches/prayer groups to participate in 40 Days of Prayer for the Mountains, from December 2nd to January 10th.

As a faith leader, would you please consider submitting a prayer that expresses your love of creation, sign your name and church or denominational affiliation, and e-mail it back to LEAF before Oct. 31?  [Details below. Please note that there are several ways to participate.]

We will gather your prayers, and then, for each of the 40 specified days, folks on LEAF's extensive e-mail list will receive a prayer focused on creation care which will prompt their own prayers for creation and impress upon them that they are part of a body of caring Christians from across the state who share their concern.

It's our belief that by praying together for God's creation we have the power not only to mold ourselves into better stewards, but also change the hearts and minds of the leaders of our state and open their eyes to their critical role in protecting God's gifts for future generations. It's a big dream, but LEAF believes that if prayer can move mountains, prayer can also keep Tennessee's mountains right where God put them.

Please join us in prayer, and please help spread the word by forwarding this e-mail.

Blessings,
